Top 5 Tuesday: Books I Despise but You Probably Loved (Please Don’t Kill Me!)

Top 5 Tuesday is weekly meme hosted by Shanah and this week’s topic is Books That Didn’t Lived Up to the Hype,

It’s time for a controversial post and I hope you guys didn’t hate me for this, because I got some books that I didn’t like which you guys probably loved so much! But hey, what’s a community without a little bit of difference right?

So here’s the list of top 5 books that didn’t work for me but are adore by so many people!

I saw so many of you guys really liked this book and it was hyped a couple of years ago. I finally read it a few months ago and it didn’t work for me, I didn’t hate this book, it’s an okay read but I can’t see why this book was such overhyped! I’ve write a review and you can read it here if you’d like!

The Raven Cycle

The fandom of The Raven Cycle is so huge, there are a lot of people in love with the book, the characters, and the writing. But sadly this book is not for me, the world is confusing, and the pace is so slow, the characters are great though but as you probably know that I’m more of a plot person than the characters so… Here‘s my review if you’d like to read it!

I really love the basic idea of the future world without death and there has to be Scythe to control the population, but that’s the only thing that I like about this book. The pace is dragging, the characters are forgettable, and I didn’t really like the plot. Here‘s my review!

This book is a weird mix between fantasy and sci-fi and it just didn’t work well for me. There are not much happening in this book, it feels flat to me, the world is super weird, but the characters are pretty great. It’s an okay read for me, read my full review here.

Six of Crows

I read this book a long time ago before I even blog so I haven’t write a review yet. I jumped into this book without reading The Grisha trilogy first and I think it was a big mistake, because I was so confused with the world and some of the strange terms in this book. I know so many people love the characters and I can see why, but I just don’t feel the connection to any of them. I do want to re-read this (after I read The Grisha Trilogy first) and I guess we’ll see if I would change my mind.

What book did you think was overhyped?

Do you like the books that I mention here?

Top 5 Tuesday: My Fictional Squad Shenanigans

Top 5 Tuesday is weekly meme hosted by Shanah and this week’s topic is Characters I’d Want to be My Bestfriend

Lemon Fresh

(Lifelike by Jay Kristoff)

When I first heard about this week’s prompt, the first character that pop to my mind is Lemon Fresh. She has the most unique name and personality, she’s so funny and brave. If there’s an award for the most loyal friend she absolutely gonna win it!

Hermione Granger

(Harry Potter by J.K Rowling)

We all need one brainiac in our squad and I want to have this girl in mine! She is smart, butt kicking, and she has a pure kind heart!

Daisy Winters

(Royals by Rachel Hawkins)

Daisy is a really honest person, she often runs into trouble because of her unfiltered mouth. She has bad tempered and say whatever that comes to her mind no matter how insulting. But despite all that, she’s a really fun person to be with.

(The Lunar Chronicle by Marissa Meyer)

Who doesn’t want this cute and fun android in their team? She always gives the best advice and could easily live up the party!

Sue Heck

(The Middle)

giphy (29)

I really admire this girl energy and positivity, two things that I don’t have! She also doesn’t give a damn to what people think about her, she is the kindest person!

Top 5 Tuesday: Let’s Judge the Books by their Terrible Art Cover. Shall we?

Top 5 Tuesday is weekly meme hosted by Shanah and this week’s topic is Top 5 Worst Book Cover

I know we’re not supposed to judge books by their cover but let’s be honest here, do you even pick up bad cover books in the bookstore? Because I don’t, I probaby glance at them, make a face, and walk through! Amazing cover with plain ordinary story has way bigger chance to be picked, why couldn’t the publishers and the authors get that?

Harry Potter

I’m really glad that I watched the movie before I read the books, if it wasn’t because of the movie I wouldn’t even bother to read these honestly. I mean, they’re not entirely bad but they really didn’t interpret the grandeur of the story. The covers are plain boring, who would have thought that the story are so magical and addicting?!

Kate Daniels Series

OH MY GOD, I can’t even find a proper word to describe how bad these covers are. I hate the picture of an actual human on a book cover (except The Selection series, they’re gorgeous okay!). WHAT EVEN IS THIS? I know the stories are great, I’ve heard so many praises about the series and some of my friends are really like them. I really want to read these, I really do, but I can’t! Maybe I won’t ever, probably until they remake the cover!

Daughter of Smoke and Bone Trilogy

I’ve only read one book by Laini Taylor, it was Strange the Dreamer. And I finally understood why people love her books! So many of my friends recommend this series to me because I love STD so much but I can’t even stand the cover. They’re a litte bit scary for me, and they’re weird too!

One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest

I really love the movie, that was what bring me to read this amazing book with the terrible cover! In my defense, this is the only edition we have in library so I guess I have no choice but to suck it up!

Now call me conservative all you want but I really don’t think it’s appropriate to show this many skin on a book cover! As a matter of fact, I don’t think human should be on book cover! It was just a bad bad idea ( again, not you The Selection, you are amazing!)

Do you agree or disagree? Which book do you think has the worst cover? Do you judge books by their cover too?

Top 5 Tuesday: Books I’ve Read Because of Bookstagram

Top 5 Tuesday is weekly meme hosted by Shanah and this week’s topic is Top 5 Books I’ve Read Because of Youtube/Blog. But I decided to do Bookstagram instead.

Before I’m an active blogger, I was an active bookstagrammer (I stil am) and I mostly got books recommendation from my fellow bookstagram friends. So here are the books that I’ve read because of the influence of bookstagram community!

My dear bookstagram friend, Maggie is a huge fans of Jay Kristoff’s work so she constantly recommending me his books, especially Illuminae. I wasn’t even a fans of Sci-fi back then but I’m glad I finally gave this book a try. I love Sci-fi ever since!

The Explorer

I’ve heard so many great things about this book from one of my bookstagram friend, she didn’t even like MG book but she said that this book was exceptional! So as a MG books lover I feel the need to try it out too and I didn’t regret it because I turn out to love this book more than I expected!

The City of Brass

Some of my bookstagram friends said that this book is literally the best thing they ever read, plus this book has muslim reference so I’m in! And oh boy, I was obsessed!!

Children of Blood and Bone

This book was everywhere on social media. instagram, twitter, blog, youtube!! And I surely didn’t want to miss the hype! This is my best read so far this year!

This book was so hype in bookstagram community years ago and I was longed for a cute and fluffy YA contemporary once in a while. So I picked up this book and immediately regret my decision!

What books have you read based on your friends recommendation? Did you turn out to like that book?

Top 5 Tuesday: Series I Need to Re-Read

Top 5 Tuesday is weekly meme hosted by Shanah and this week’s topic is Top 5 Naked Hardcovers

Here’s a shocking truth: I never re-read! Not because I remember every details in every books, in fact, I’m a forgetful person. I never re-read because I simply think it’s not necessary, why would I re-read if I could just read new books? Shame on me, I know 😂

But lately I’ve been thinking to re-read some of my favorite books that I have forgotten the details. And the books I want to re-read someday are:

Harry Potter

Honestly I don’t remember every details in this series anymore and I need to because this is my favorite series ever! How could I do this to something I love?!

The Selection

images (1)

I read this series in my mother language years ago and I need to re-read this in english because I think there are so many missing informations in the translated book. Also, this series is always a pleasure to read anytime!

Percy Jackson and the Olympians

These books introduced me to my fav author of all time, Rick Riordan. I read this so many years ago and I barely remember anything, I also read the translated books so this series definitely worth to re-read!

The Bartimaeus Trilogy

I remember that I loved this series so much but I don’t remember why, God I read this so long ago!

The City of Brass

I wish I could re-read this one soon because the sequel will be release in January 2019. I need to remember every details before dive into the second book!

Top 5 Tuesday: Character Driven Books

Top 5 Tuesday is weekly meme hosted by Shanah and this week’s topic is Top 5 Naked Hardcovers

To be quite honest, I don’t really like character driven books. I couldn’t care less about the characters if the worldbuilding is confusing and the plot is dragging too much! I’d prefer plot driven books even if the characters are so badly written and sometimes make me want to strangle them (yes, I’m looking at you Mare Barrow!).

But I have to admit that some authors did a really great job in creating their characters. And these are some of the books that I think are more prominent than the plot itself.

The Raven Cycle

Of course this book will be in my number one list. You all know how much I despise this book because of the slow pace and pointless plot, and the confusing worldbuilding. But I have to admit that the characters in this series are so complex. I love Ronan the most, and I’m sorry love but I can’t, I just can’t continue reading the books, I just had enough.

Six of Crows

Maybe it’s my fault because I didn’t read The Grisha Trilogy first before I read this. And it makes me confuse by the bizarre terms. I didn’t really like the plot but I love some of the characters so much. Inej, Nina, Matthias are so well written!

The Young Elite

I can’t really say that this is character driven book because I love the plot and the worldbuilding too. But I have to mention Adelina Amouteru because she’s the most interesting character I’ve ever read, it’s amazing how she could change dramatically throughout the books and how the world evolve around her.

The Dollar Kids

This book is about Lowen who lost his bestfriend and feel responsible for what happened. Basically this book is about overcoming grief and how to deal with guilt. The plot is so fricking slow but to watch Lowen slowly recover from his past and try to move on is a really touching story and really worth to read.

Okay this might be a very unpopular opinion because I know so many people hate Cath. But I actually in love with Cath’s character, and I’m amaze by how a sweet girl like Cath could become the evil Queen of Hearts.

Do you prefer plot driven books or character driven books? What’s your favorite character driven books?

Top 5 Tuesday: Naked Hardcovers

Top 5 Tuesday is weekly meme hosted by Shanah and this week’s topic is Top 5 Naked Hardcovers

I actually love so many naked covers I could barely choose top 20! So choosing only 5 is literally killng me, but in the end  Imanaged to sort them out. So here goes my top 5 naked covers in no particular order.

Nevermoor is one of my favorite middle grade fantasy ever! This book is not only beautiful on the outside but also in the inside. Just look at that beautiful naked cover, the illustration of the town goes all the way to the back cover with so many little gold speckles, but it’s not too obvious in the picture!

The Surface Breaks

I mean, who doesn’t love this naked cover? It’s mermaid scale!! I don’t even like mermaid I think they’re scary creature but this cover is gorgeous!

The Binding

This book is going to be release on January 2019 and I’M IN LOVE ALREADY. Look at that golden detail, this book look so magical. And I’ve read the synopsis, and it sounds very promising. It’s nowhere near 2019 but I’m positive that this book is gonna win the most beautiful cover of 2019!

Top 5 Tuesday: Top 5 books I Didn’t like that others Loved

I’m so sorry for being inactive for a couple weeks because I was going home to celebrate Eid Al-Fitr with my family! But now I’m back with full force, although this is a day late , I’m doing this anyway!

Top 5 Tuesday is weekly meme hosted by Shanah and this week’s topic is Free, so I’m going with Top 5 Book I Didn’t Like but Others Loved.

The Raven Boys

I always have some difficulties in reading purple prose books but it was never this hard. I was struggling and spacing out several times and I have to go back a few pages to understand what I was reading. The pace is so slow, and the story seems pointless. I managed to finish this book tho but I don’t want to continue this series. No thanks.

This book was recommend to me by a friend, but gaah this book is so frustating. There are so many plot holes, the pace is crazy slow, and the characters are boring, they could just kill each other for all I care! I definitely won’t read the other book in this series! I rant so much about this book in my review, you could read them here.

The Wrath and the Dawn

I usually love fairytale retelling but this one is not for me. The worldbuilding and the characters are all great but I just don’t like it, honestly it’s not the book, it’s me. Maybe I’m going to try to read this again sometimes.

Everything, Everything

I found too many similarities with the movie Bubble Boy and it kinda irritate me, even the twist is the exact same.

The Sun is Also a Star

I don’t know why I decided to try to read another book by Nicola Yoon again, this book had tropes that I hate the most, insta-love and love at first sight.

Are there any books that you didn’t like but others loved? Do you hate this books I mention above too?

Top 5 Tuesday: Top 5 Books I Predict Will be 5 Star Reads!

Hello book nerds!

It’s TFT time again! Top 5 Tuesday is weekly meme hosted by Shanah and this week’s topic is Top 5 Books I Predict Will be 5 Star Reads. I’m going to list 5 books that I haven’t read but I think would give them 5 stars because of the promising blurb and so many praise the books have received.

1. To Kill A Kingdom

The Little Mermaid retelling, fierce female character, hate to love trope, set in the ocean, plus I’ve heard so many great reviews from trusted reviewers, so I’M IN!

2. Circe

GREEK MYTHOLOGY! The most amazing cover I’ve ever seen, heard so many great reviews, plus my closest friend love The Song of Achilles!

3. Aru Shah and the End of Time

4. The Burning Maze

5. Muse of Nightmares

Strange the Dreamer was one of my best read last year, so the ending better be good right?

Have you read any of these book? What do you think about it? What book do you think you would give 5 star?
