Wrap Up: August 2018

I bought less books than July! I really need to save money this month, let’s hope that I’m consistent enough on my book buying ban. Here’s the books that I bought on August!

The Poppy War

Exile (Keeper of the Lost Cities 2)

The School for Good and Evil

Who Let the Gods Out

My Lady Jane

I got The Legend of Greg from July Owlcrate Jr box, the theme was TRUE CALLING, it arrived in the beginning of August, way later than I expected. Nightbooks is from August box, the theme was STORYTELLER’S KIT and it’s just arrived today!

Did you know I’m one of the rep for Owlcrate Jr? You can use my code OLOGYST10 to get 10% off for your first subscription. They always provided the best MG books!

I got The Weeping Books of Blinney Lane and Song for a Lost Kingdom from Digital Reads Blog Tour  and Apple Pie Promises from NetGalley. I haven’t requested anything from NetGalley since then, proud of my shelf control! And I plan to keep doing that until my feedback ratio is at least 85%.

This book is hands down my favorite book of the week, hell, it’s probably my favorite Sci-Fi book! I know I haven’t read many Sci-Fi books but I’m sure you’ll agree with me when you read it! I’ve posted my review of this book, just click the picture if you missed it and want to read it!

I didn’t watch so many movies in August but this is definitely my favorite. I have to admit that I loved the book waaay more than the movie, I just don’t feel the connection to movie Lara and Peter, I think Lara is more awkward in the movie than in the book and she looks like she wasn’t comfortable being around Peter and the movie didn’t have Lara-Peter banter which I really adore.

I’m on season 9 people!!! I will be really sad once I finished this because the tenth season will be aired on September 26th, gaah I can’t believe I have to wait for a month, more or less. I guess it means I will have to look for a new obsession!

Of Monsters and Men has been my favorite since Little Talks. They have been working on a new album since 2017, but it has no release date yet, in the meantime I’m just gonna repeat their songs over and over. My favorite songs from their latest album is Wolves Without Teeth and Empire. But they are all so good!!

This game has been my favorite since the first time I played it 3 months ago. I don’t think I’ll play another game until I finished this!

  1. So happy you bought My Lady Jane, I hope you enjoy it as much as I did 🙂 I found To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before in hardcover at a used bookstore and it was a great deal!

I really need to start binge-watching older series. I feel like I basically just rewatch Bob’s Burgers all the time 😛

    1. Everyone seems to enjoy My lady Jane, I hope I enjoy it too! Yes, go read it!!!

I think I saw your post about Bob’s Burger and I’m intrigued!!

  2. The only movie I watched was TATBILB.
My favorite read of August was Always and Forever, Lara Jean! I somehow read 6-7 books this month, which never happens. But I only read one book in July so it works out.
I hope you have a happy reading month in September!

    1. Thank you so much, I’ve heard nothing but amazing reviews about that book so I’m super excited! I hope you enjoy it too!! Have a great September too Raven!

    1. I actually have read it but it was the translated version and I loved it so much, that’s why I bought the english version, I can’t wait to re-read it and continue the series! I’m glad you liked it too!! Have you read the fourth book?

    1. I had a pretty great month!! YESS My TIme at Portia is very similar to Harvest Moon and Stardew Valley but with better graphic!! If you love them then you should try My Time at Portia, it’s a really great game!

  3. Ooh, Nightbooks caught my eye; that cover is simply gorgeous! And I’m definitely watching To All The Boys before I read the book, but it’s nice to hear that the book is even better! Also, WOW I don’t even recognize the Modern Family cast anymore in that picture. I stopped watching around season 6, so it’s so weird to see Luke towering over his sisters, and that little boy…is that Jay/Gloria’s son?! Holy moly, I’ve been away from this show for such a long time…. Fabulous post! ❤ 😀

    1. I know right? That cover is so dreamy!! Yes I definitely like the book more than the movie, maybe you should read the book too someday. I was surprised too when I saw Luke’s evolution, I kinda miss the little Luke! And yes that little boy is Jay/Gloria’s son!! Go watch it again, season ten is about to start!!

      Thank you for reading,!!!

  4. Your month of August sounded wonderful and full of lovely books! 😊 I’ve been wanting to read Sleeping Giants for a while now, but I really wasn’t sure how I would like it, since I don’t read Sci-Fi often. But since you’re not a big sci-fi reader and you liked the novel, maybe I should check it out soon? 🤔 Anyways, I didn’t know you had a review out for KOTLC — I’ll need to check that out!

I hope your month of September is as full of wonderful books as your month of August 💕
