Mid-Year Book Freakout Tag

I can’t believe June is about to end and we only have six months left to slay all of our TBR and you can totally see how I’m freaking out right now, because I’m such a slow reader lately because of work and other life happening. I can’t believe it, SIX MONTHS!

I originally planned to read only 25 books this year but I think I could do more and then I change my goal to 50, what an ambitious goal. And now I’m freaking out because boy that was a long way to reach my goal!

Anyway, have we friend each other in Goodreads? Add me as a friend if you like to by clicking the GR challenge banner above!

1.Best Book You’ve Read so Far in 2018

Ha, you know I’d choose Children of Blood and Bone right? I can’t believe any human could come up with such a great story and great characters. I can hardly believe that this is a debut!

2. Best Sequel You’ve Read so Far in 2018

Well I don’t read much sequel this year but this one is definitely my favorite so far. Well it might be biased because of Rick Riordan, you know how much I love the man!

 3. A New Release You Haven’t Read Yet But Really Want To

To Kill A Kingdom! I’ve heard nothing but great reviews about that book so you can tell that I’m really really curious to find out what the hype is about!

4. Most Anticipated Releases for the Second Half of the Year

And so many other books, seriously there are so many. But this is my top three, Storm Runner is Rick Riordan imprint so you know I’m in. I love Strange the Dreamer so much so I can’t wait for Muse of Nightmares. Mirage is a debut high fantasy, the blurb sounds so promising!

5. Your Biggest Disappointment

Uggh this book, I can’t even talk about it right now. Just read my review here if you want to know why I was disappointed.

6. Your Biggest Surprise

37671418 (1)

My friend recommend this book to me because she knew I love Middle Grade fantasy, that’s why I was sceptical because this book is not fantasy, it’s an adventure book. But I was trying not to be rude and read it anyway and OH MY GOD this book! It’s surprisingly so good and I think I’m in love with this book. Review is coming up soon!

7. Favorite New Author

This book everything seriously! Tomi Adeyemi I love you! Thank you for writing such an epic book!

8. New Fictional Crush

I may read this in the end of 2017 but Dara is my latest crush, he’s emotionally unstable but that’s what I love about him. Also his green emerald eyes are so beautiful!

9/10. New Favorite Character/A Book that Made You Cry

I hope you don’t get bored if I mention this book over and over. My new favorite character is Amari, she’s well developed throughout the story, she’s so caring, and she’s a really great friend. Well I never cry because of a book but this one nearly broke me, nearly!

6. A Book that Made You Happy

I don’t have to tell you again why I love this book so much! The worldbuilding, the characters, the writing are all so magical!!

12. Favorite Book to Film Adaptation

Okay I know that this movie was like 80% different from the book but I really love the movie. The book is so amazing to read, but I think if the whole book was made into movie scenes that was gonna be so boring. Imagine we had to watch Wade play Joust in a cave, alone, for months instead of seeing that amazing race in the beginning of the movie. All I say is, despite all the differences, the movie and the book are equally epic!

13. Favorite Post You’ve Written This Year

Probably all of my Harry Potter Anniversaty Week post, because they remind me of how much I love that series.

14. Most Beautiful Book You’ve Bought This Year

This book is beautiful inside and out. I mean, look at that beautiful cover and naked cover! And the story is amazing, this book is one of my favorite read this year!

15. Books You Need to Read by the End of the Year

Tell you what, the list could go on and on, but this number is totally reasonable right? I need some encouragement here, please!

linechatHow far are you in your Goodreads challenge? What is your favorite book so far in 2018? What’s you most anticipated book in the second half of the year?carolina

  1. We should do a buddy read of My Lady Jane even though My Plain Jane is supposed to come in the mail today. I read My Lady Jane in Feb and I’m already ready for a reread 🙂

My most anticipated release is probably Escaping from Houdini. I need the next SJTR book like now!

  2. I ended up lowering my Goodreads goal because I’ve been reading less this year compared to last. Still, I’m feeling the pressure too. Loved Children of Blood and Bone so much. I need to get to City of Brass this summer. I read a really great review of Mirage, so I’m thinking of preordering that one. And To Kill a Kingdom really surprised me (in a good way). I hope you enjoy it!

    1. The book is so EPIC!!! But maybe if you watch the movie first you’ll be slighly disappointed on the book. Because they’re totally different, the book tho has so many 80’s reference, like SO MANY!! And the quests are much more intense than in the movie! But I love them equally, maybe I like the book a bit better!!
