Top 5 Tuesday: Top 5 books I Didn’t like that others Loved

I’m so sorry for being inactive for a couple weeks because I was going home to celebrate Eid Al-Fitr with my family! But now I’m back with full force, although this is a day late , I’m doing this anyway!

Top 5 Tuesday is weekly meme hosted by Shanah and this week’s topic is Free, so I’m going with Top 5 Book I Didn’t Like but Others Loved.

The Raven Boys

I always have some difficulties in reading purple prose books but it was never this hard. I was struggling and spacing out several times and I have to go back a few pages to understand what I was reading. The pace is so slow, and the story seems pointless. I managed to finish this book tho but I don’t want to continue this series. No thanks.

This book was recommend to me by a friend, but gaah this book is so frustating. There are so many plot holes, the pace is crazy slow, and the characters are boring, they could just kill each other for all I care! I definitely won’t read the other book in this series! I rant so much about this book in my review, you could read them here.

The Wrath and the Dawn

I usually love fairytale retelling but this one is not for me. The worldbuilding and the characters are all great but I just don’t like it, honestly it’s not the book, it’s me. Maybe I’m going to try to read this again sometimes.

Everything, Everything

I found too many similarities with the movie Bubble Boy and it kinda irritate me, even the twist is the exact same.

The Sun is Also a Star

I don’t know why I decided to try to read another book by Nicola Yoon again, this book had tropes that I hate the most, insta-love and love at first sight.

Are there any books that you didn’t like but others loved? Do you hate this books I mention above too?

  1. I gave 3 stars to The raven boys but continued the series and it gets better, but I was confused many times while reading it to be honest.
everything everything got 2 stars from me and was just meh…
The sun is also a star was skipped because I don’t believe I will like it.
One of my friends who knows me well told me that I won’t like The wrath and the dawn.
But I think I will read Scythe because it sounds interesting and I didn’t read anything by that author yet!

    1. It look like we share the same preferences for books 😂. I want to know your opinion about Scythe, make sure to hit me up once you finished it!

  2. Wow, great picks! I myself didn’t see the hype for Raven Boys when I first read it; it gets waaay better once you keep reading and get used to the writing style, but I agree the plot was totally pointless. And I’ve heard very divided opinions on every single book on this list; literally, I’m still debating whether I want to read these or not, so I totally feel you on these.

    1. Everyone said the series keep getting better but I cant, I just can’t. I keep spacing out and I can’t even remember what I just read! My opinion on scythe was really unpopular because everyone seems to like it, let me know if you actually decided to read one of these!

    1. Oooh thank God I’m not the only one. The purple prose just making it worse, the plot lead to nowhere, the characters are amazing tho 😂

      1. Wow you’re so strong to finish the series. I barely survive the first one, I didn’t continue with the rest of the series 😂
